If you’re interested in experiencing PR agency life and gaining valuable real-world experience, then a Ripley PR Paid Internship may be perfect for you! Interns will report to the Accounts Supervisor and will also be assigned a senior level Intern Mentor.

During your time as a Ripley intern, you will have the opportunity to gain insights and PR skills before you graduate, and work with other interns and team members on client and agency projects.

  • 16-30 hours per week
  • Up to three internship sessions are offered each year: Spring, Summer and Fall Semesters

Select interns will be chosen to advance to our Paid Fellowship program. This 3-6 month program will extend your time and weekly hours at Ripley PR. As a PR Fellow, you will have the opportunity to work directly on our client teams, learn more in-depth PR expertise from our mentors, and work with media to secure opportunities for our clients. Select fellows will be offered full time jobs at Ripley PR.

Ripley PR interns meet the following requirements:

  • Must live in the greater Knoxville area and be able to come into the Maryville agency office during assigned office hours
  • Actively enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, any accredited college or university, and studying communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or advertising
  • Have strong writing skills and general knowledge of AP style
  • Be detail-oriented, demonstrate good judgment and excellent time management skills
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Have a solid understanding of social media for business marketing
  • Understand the basics of pitching media
  • Understand the basics of writing press releases and other PR materials
  • Smart, creative, assertive, and eager to learn
  • Previous PR or Marketing internship experience is helpful, but not required

Responsibilities may include:

  • Drafting press releases, media pitches, social media posts and other content
  • Participating in agency meetings and brainstorming sessions
  • Handling research and analysis assignments to support client objectives
  • Researching media lists for local, national and trade media
  • Contributing to the execution of client public relations campaigns
  • Assisting with agency and client projects, as assigned
  • Assisting with administrative duties, as assigned
