Head of Training & Development

This is an in-office position at our Maryville office. Candidates who are not currently located in the Knoxville metro area will not be considered for employment.

What You’ll Do:

As the Head of Training and Development, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the skills and knowledge of our team members. You will be responsible for thoroughly understanding our processes across each department and translating that knowledge into engaging training programs, including in-person training, and written and video modules for our training software. Your role will involve training and coaching new and current employees, as well as managing their online training progress to ensure successful learning outcomes and professional development.

We’re looking for someone with these characteristics:

  • 4+ years’ experience in a teaching or training role preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, English, education, or a related field
  • Strong public speaking skills with the ability to engage audiences in both one-on-one and group settings
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously
  • Familiarity with online training platforms and instructional design tools is a plus
  • Proficient in PC, MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, WordPress, content management systems
  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential a plus

Some of the responsibilities our Head of Training and Development will have:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs tailored to our agency’s processes and employee needs
  • Create engaging online training modules using the latest instructional design methodologies
  • Facilitate in person individual and group training sessions
  • Monitor and manage employees’ training progress, providing feedback and additional support as required
  • Collaborate with department heads and brand managers to identify skill gaps and develop targeted training strategies
  • Conducts quarterly training and development needs assessment
  • Plans, organizes, facilitates and orders supplies for employee development and training events
  • Develops and maintains organizational communications such as bulletin boards and e-newsletter to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources
  • Modifies programs as needed
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the agency
  • Stay current on PR Industry trends and best practices in training and development
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports showing employees’ online training progress
