What You’ll Do:
Ripley PR is looking for an exceptional professional to work directly with clients, lead our content team and create both client and agency content for a variety of earned and owned media platforms. The ideal candidate will have at least 8-10 years of experience in content creation with a focus on SEO and marketing, a solid business acumen, creative vision, a strategic mind, and the ability to see the big picture for our agency and each of our clients. The Head of Content is a true team player who owns and drives momentum for all day-to-day content deliverables.
We’re looking for someone with these characteristics:
- 4+ years of agency and/or management experience is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field
- Exceptional ability to institute and influence processes and define solutions
- Strong planning, communication, delegation and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated experience assigning tasks and checking status of outstanding projects
- Excellent time-management and multitasking ability
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including the ability to use research and data metrics to back up intuition
- Confidence in consulting clients and providing recommendations on strategy
- High attention to detail
- Proficient in PC, MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, WordPress, content management systems
Some of the requirements for the role of Head of Content:
- Alongside brand managers, work closely with clients to create positive, long-lasting relationships by ensuring we develop and execute a solid content strategy and provide high-quality deliverables
- Assumes responsibility for day-to-day content production and quality control of all content that leaves the agency
- Records daily billable hours, meeting assigned weekly billable target
- Establishes strategic plans for content (preventing fires before they happen rather than fighting them after) and helps coach other content specialists toward best practices.
- Consults brand managers and other department heads by participating in client meetings, taking notes for recommendations, and developing and/or reviewing clients’ content strategies and calendars before they are presented to clients
- Holds daily huddles with content team to ensure project goals are accomplished on time and with excellent quality.
- Serves as senior PR content specialist for assigned clients
- Writes and develops content for agency and client collateral to meet strategic planning objectives. Copy includes, but is not limited to, press releases, blogs, bylined articles, social media calendars, bios, case studies and more
- Ensures content is proofed, edited and clean prior to presentation to clients and before final uploading to live sites or other interactive properties
- Maintains reference libraries of client source material and client competitors’ content, marketing and advertising efforts
- Assists with developing training programs and administering training for new content employees
- Coaches and mentors content specialists on a regular basis (increasing billable hours, managing content goals and deadlines, improving client service, writing more effective content, etc.)
- Holds content team accountable to deadlines, milestones and agency content goals
- Reviews and approves all new clients’ content calendars and strategies before they are presented to clients – attends new client onboarding meetings
- Assists management with client-related issues and crises, proactively helps solve problems and conflicts
- Creates and maintains department lead reports
- Helps ensure content team members are growing assigned clients’ social media presence and engagement
- Assists managing director and other department heads with regular client satisfaction surveys
- Stays current with web trends, tools and best practices, and shares this knowledge with agency team
